Job Title: Bartender

Reports to: Shift Supervisor, Service Manager

Job Overview:

The Bartender’s primary goal is to serve guests in a warm, accommodating, and professional manner ensuring 100% guest satisfaction. The Bartender must responsibly and intelligently serve guests as well as maintain an organized, efficient bar. The Bartender must provide a consistent level of service that meets the Nexus Club standards and exceeds the expectations of the guest. They are also responsible for serving food and beverages to bar patrons. The bartender is responsible for selling, serving, presenting and suggesting wines to our guests. The bartender is also responsible for providing service to wait staff; they must maintain the bar neat and clean.

Primary Duties:

Executing Service:

• Set up the bar with all needed product and materials before service to ensure the efficient and accurate preparation of drinks.
• Inform a Supervisor or Manager or manager of low and/or 86s of all beverage products and bar bases.
• Check cocktail base pars daily and participate in requisition process from the Back of House as required to maintain freshness of cocktail base pars.
• Work main or service bars as determined by the Shift Supervisor or Service Manager.
• Perform daily side work and weekly maintenance on days indicated.
• Oversee maintenance and cleanliness of all bar areas including storage areas pertaining to the bar.
• Make the beverage manager or general manager aware of any problems with bar equipment (cold beverages too warm, leaks, etc.)
• Periodically review beverage encyclopedia and menu descriptions and maintain knowledge of all Nexus Club beverage offerings.
• Attend as required, and as possible when elective, beverage training for FOH staff.
• Suggest ways to improve flow of service, as opportunities arise.
• Work opening and/or closing shifts as needed.
• Help prepare for and perform inventories as required by Shift Supervisor or Service

During Service:

• Offer great hospitality including, greeting customers with genuine friendliness, using eye contact, smile and thank the customer at all appropriate times.
• Be aware of disruptive guests and report undesirable behavior to management immediately.
• Ensure that all beverage lists, and menus are up to date .

Additional Duties:

• Ensure high quality of cleanliness and organization throughout the club
• Uphold Nexus Club’s Values and Mission Statement while performing positional responsibilities.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures, as stated in the company handbook.
• Perform other job-related activities as required or assigned by management.

Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• A professional appearance which meets company grooming standards
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Flexible availability on a week-to-week basis based on the needs of the business

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma required.
• At least 2 years of hospitality service experience. Experience with private clubs, fine dining, or luxury goods is preferred.
• At least 1 year in a bartender role.
