Company Description: H.J. Martin and Son is a diversified construction company specializing in commercial and residential flooring, glass and glazing, walls & ceilings, commercial doors and hardware, and millwork and fixture installation.

Residential Flooring Installer Helper Position Description: We are seeking entry-level flooring installer helpers for our residential flooring division who are responsible for assisting with installing flooring products while operating basic tools and flooring equipment.

Residential Flooring Installer Helper Principal Responsibilities:

Loading & unloading materials
Sweep, scrape, sand, or clean base surfaces to correct imperfections that may show through the floor covering
Mix and apply required compounds to join and adhere foundation/flooring material
Cut floor coverings and foundation materials according to blueprints and sketches
Assist with the installation of luxury vinyl, vinyl composition tile, carpet, vinyl, hardwood, tile, and other flooring
Use and maintain hand tools, portable power tools, and stationary power tools in a safe manner

Residential Flooring Installer Helper Job Requirements:

Must possess the skills to multi-task, work in a team setting, and meet deadlines
Some floor covering installation experience preferred
Ability to read and understand blue prints, construction plans and layouts is preferred
Basic knowledge of tool and equipment safety, ability to identify and correct environmental or other workplace hazards
Must have a valid driver’s license

Physical Demands:

Requires strenuous physical work including heavy lifting, working on hands/knees, pushing, or pulling objects and being in dusty conditions is common

Conditions of Employment:

Must be able to pass background and pre-employment drug test
